For the forthcoming Baselworld 2011, Ellicott developed a new Mach One Skymaster model, the Mach One Skymaster Aviator watch. It is an innovative timepiece.
The first impression I had when I saw the new Mach One Skymaster timepiece is that the watch dial looks like a flower. Though looked like a flower, the timepiece is actually a men’s watch. The reason I have that impression is probably because of its oversized Arabic and Strip hour markers. The 3, 9 and 12 hour markers are showed in Arabic numerals with their edges being framed in red and bodies crafted with white luminous coating while the rest hour markers are in strip. The contrasts of white with red, and strips with Arabic numerals make the dial look like a flower to me. With oversized markers and clear hands, the watch looks straight-forward and magnificent on the whole.
The specialty of the watch actually lies in its material, the “stealth” carbon, which is quite an innovative material in the manufacture of a watch. The “stealth” carbon is a composite material with carbon fiber which is widely used in the aeronautic industry due to its light weight and strong mechanical resistance. Both the case and the dial of the Mach One Skymaster Aviator watch are made of carbon fiber with scratch-resistant steel, while the bezel is crafted from black DLC steel with satin finishing. As to the material of the face, the anti-reflective sapphire crystal is applied to ensure a clear view of the dial and to protect the dial from strong scratches.
The movement for this magnificent Mach One Skymaster is a self-winding mechanical one with unidirectional winding. It is decorated with 23 jewels and reserves power for 50 hours. The water resistance ability of the watch is 50 meters.
There are various versions of dial colors and the beauty of the new timepiece is finished off with a matt black alligator strap with red stitches and a steel buckle.
